Scenario 1: OroTimesheet 7 is installed in stand-alone mode and you want to transfer OroTimesheet 7 (and your data) on a new computer.
1- Install
* OroTimesheet 7 on the new computer.
2- After the installation, start OroTimesheet 7 so that you can verify that everything works fine. You will be in trial mode and it is normal. After it, quit OroTimesheet 7.
3- To get back your data already entered, you must then copy database files from your old computer to the new one. Files to copy are located in the OroTimesheet data folder that is usually
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OroLogic\OroTimesheet\Databases. Copy the entire content of this folder (including sub-folders) on the new computer. Note that on some Windows versions, the folder can be
C:\ProgramData\OroLogic\OroTimesheet\Databases.
4- Finally, start OroTimesheet 7 again and you should see all your old data.
Note that your license numbers are kept directly into the database. So, you do not have to enter it again.
Scenario 2: OroTimesheet 7 is installed in multi-user mode. Data are located on a Windows server and you want to transfer these data on a new Windows server.
1- Install
* OroTimesheet 7 on the new server. Be sure to select options
Installation in multi-user mode and
This computer will act as the server. The OroTimesheet database will be located on this computer.
2- After the installation, start OroTimesheet 7 directly from the server console so that you can verify that everything works fine. You will be in trial mode and it is normal. After it, quit OroTimesheet 7.
3- Ask all your users to quit OroTimesheet 7. After it, go at the old server then stop the service named
Firebird Server. So, by doing that, you will be sure that your users will not be able to access the OroTimesheet 7 data on the old server anymore. This step is required so that database files be not in use and to be able to correctly copy them at next step.
4- To get back your data already entered, you must then copy database files from your old server to the new one. Files to copy are located in the OroTimesheet data folder that is usually
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OroLogic\OroTimesheet\Databases. Copy the entire content of this folder (including sub-folders) on the new server. Note that on some Windows versions, the folder can be
C:\ProgramData\OroLogic\OroTimesheet\Databases.
5- After it, start OroTimesheet 7 again directly from the server console to verify that all your data are in the database.
6- Finally, go at each client computer, start OroTimesheet then enter the name or IP address of the new server to access data located on this new server.
Scenario 3: OroTimesheet 7 is installed in multi-user mode and you want to install OroTimesheet 7 on a new client computer.
1- Install
* OroTimesheet 7 on the new computer. Be sure to select options
Installation in multi-user mode and
This computer will access the OroTimesheet database that is located on a remote server.
2- After the installation of FIREBIRD client, the installation program asks you if you want to configure the connection to the database now. Answer
Yes to the question. You must enter the name or ip address of your server to indicate to OroTimesheet where are located data.
Then, click
OK to continue. Then the installation program tests the connection to the server. If the test is successful, the installation program ends by displaying
Installation successful. Click
OK to finish.
If the connection test fails, the installation program displays an error message then you can reverify
parameters that you entered. Note that if for any reason, you are not able to configure OroTimesheet properly (because the connection test always fails), just continue and finish the installation. When you will run OroTimesheet, you will just have to enter a new server name. You will not have to reinstall OroTimesheet. For more information, refer to the
OroTimesheet 7 Installation Guide.
