Description
A firewall is included with some Windows versions and by default, it is enabled and blocks access on port TCP/3050 (or port TCP/3051 according to your NewWayService configuration) (port used by Firebird) to all computers that try to access this computer.
Solution
You can just disable the Windows firewall (if you don't need it) to allow communications between NewWayService and the Firebird database. If you need that the firewall be enabled, then, just add an entry to indicate to Windows to allow communications on port TCP/3050 (or port TCP/3051 according to your NewWayService configuration).
How to disable the Windows XP firewall:
(For other Windows versions, the procedure may differ)
Go to the Windows control panel. Double-click on "Network connections", then double-click on your network connection. Click on the "Properties" button, select the tab "Advanced" then disable the box "Protect my computer and network". (If the Service Pack 2 is installed, click instead on the "Settings" button then disable the firewall from this dialog box).

(If the Service Pack 2 is installed, select the "Exceptions" tab instead then click "Add port" to add the port number).
Notes:
This problem can also occur on any Windows version if a firewall is enabled on the computer where the database is located. In this case, refer to the documentation of your firewall to allow communication on the port TCP/3050.
